School Access Research Project
Our project to collect qualitative research into the experience of children with physical disabilities and their families, and the negative impact on their access to education. Our aim is to develop a systematic means of assessment of schools’ accessibility and create resources which equip schools and families with tools to bridge the gap in provision for children with physical disabilities
UR:Enabled Video Series
Our validated exercise series for adult amputees, funded by the National Lottery and Sport England. Based on Dr Asher’s PhD research, these videos have been designed to provide at-home exercises for amputees who have completed rehabilitation and want to take the next step towards achieving their physical activity goals. The framework we have developed for application by activity leaders or individuals to adapt physical activities so that people of any ability, and particularly with any physical disability, can participate without requiring them to join a special group of people with similar needs. This has been developed working with disabled people and representative organisations and builds on existing models of inclusion
Walk:Rateable
We are developing a system that can be employed by walking group leaders to assess the difficulty of a walking route against a series of defined metrics in order to determine a standardised rating. This rating can then be used by individuals with mobility issues to assess in advance, against their own ability level, whether or not the walking route will be suitable for them
